The British Evacuation of New York, 1783

On this day, November 25, 1783, the last ship carrying Loyalists sailed from New York to Nova Scotia.

At the end of the American Revolutionary War, approximately 5% of the population of the United States were exiled. Those who were loyal to Great Britain and King George III were no longer safe in the United States of America.
